Design Calculations & Compliance
Here is the information you need to gather in order to complete Energy Calculations for most projects:
Building & Site Plans
Project Submission Checklist
Design compliance involves evaluation of energy features in your design against a theoretical baseline. This baseline sets an overall budget for a building of the same square footage and volume of your design, which allows trade-offs between energy features to meet overall requirements. For example, in order to increase the size of a given window, one might install higher performing windows. In this case, the trade-off is one dimension of the design (size) for another (performance). It should be noted that not all energy features can be traded off; that is, some requirements are mandatory - each of these are noted on your design compliance documents.
Extropy Green seeks to streamline the process of design compliance through shared understanding of the standards. Visit our Order Services pages to learn more.
Construction: HERS Field Verification
As construction projects transition from design into implementation, to schedule a site visit, you need to prepare the following documents:
New Installation Certificate (CF6R)
or
Alteration Installation Certificate (CF6R-ALT)
In addition, we will need a copy of the Certificate of Compliance (CF1R) that was submitted to your building department.
The CF6R is a record of what was actually installed, and is the basis for field inspections and verification. This form must be completed before* field verification work can begin.
* When pursuing credits for Quality Insulation Installation, field verification of insulation installation can precede completion of CF6R. Once field verification is completed, a CF4R form is submitted to the Energy Commission, and you receive a CF4R Certificate of
